I was considering building a server for my home. My main concern was what operating system to use. I've read about Windows Home Server, and like the sound of its features (disk management, automatic backups, media sharing). However, it's around $90, and I know that Linux is great for servers, but how is it for home servers? Can I use Linux and get a similar experience to Windows Home Server? What I am mostly concerned about is not having to worry about anything after it's set up. I've used Linux in the past, but I'm a newbie when it comes to servers. Thanks in advance for any direction you can give!

UBUNTU Server, setup may take a bit more initially (command line driven) but from a client or workstation point of view you can access shared folders (using Samba) printers etc... PLus, the price is right$

Can I get it to automatically backup the computers on my network, or have it automatically add storage to the "pool" when it is added? Those were my main concerns, and in my view the main selling points of WHS.

Does anyone know how to get these features in Ubuntu?
