Hi

I have recently put together a system based around a 2500k and a Asus p67.

anyway. I am trying to overclock it from it's stock 3.3Ghz. So I increase the multiplier (I have tried 40 and 45 which after some reserch it should easily achieve) and leave the rest of the stuff the same.

When I reboot and check my CPU frequency in /proc/cpuinfo (this is linux) it reports as still 3.3, on other system this accurately reports it's actual clock :(

Anyhow when I restart and go back into the BIO it shows that there is still the 45 or 40x multiplier as the top range but is using a lower one from the range of 16-45.

I have tried running with speed step off and it doesn't make a difference. What is going on here? I have tried running my system under load on all cores but it remains the same.

Thanks.

PS: I really hate this motherboard, the EFI bio is unbearable.
