Hello and welcome to Tom's Hardware Forums.
That's a good start but if it stops there and does no more, it's not so good.
Does a bootable Fedora disk work in your optical drive? Test that first while cleaning the XP CD with a fingertip of toothpaste and a clean, lint-free cloth - NOT a wood-based kitchen roll.
What's wrong with XP that you think needs repairing? It may be easier to fix that problem than to use the CD to run repair options. Does Fedora run properly and use all the memory?
