What would be the better choice?

i5-750 (2.66GHz x4) + P55 + Radeon HD4670 1GB

OR

Core2Quad Q9550 (2.83GHz x4) + P45 + Geforce 9800GT 1GB

Assuming both sets are of same price and other components are the same for both.

Core i5 750 is faster than core 2 quad Q9550
9800 GT is faster than HD 4670, but the HD 4850 is faster than 9800 GT for about the same price (or maybe cheaper).

What do you want to do with that computer?

If you are gaming then q9550 with 9800 gt will certainly do better most of the time, if you are into cpu bound workloads (encoding, rendering) then the core i5 is certainly faster than the core 2 quad.

I agree with most of what basket687 is sayingm but the i5 is definitely, the better cpu at everything.

I would say Only i5 for now...
Save money and get a gfx card later.
