Dell Inspiron XP restarts after shut down

When I shut down my Dell Insperion 530 running XP SP3, it restarts on its own. Sometimes restert is immediate and other times after a few minutes to a couple of hours. How do I fix?

When I shut down my Dell Insperion 530 running XP SP3, it restarts on its own. Sometimes restert is immediate and other times after a few minutes to a couple of hours. How do I fix?

System error is occuring during shutdown causing restart, IMO.

Check event viewer for errors.

run sfc /scannow if you have Windows CD or repair install.
Might have correupted driver or system file.
