Why cant my pc see my laptop

hi all, ive got a pc in my shed and a laptop indoors,both run vista and can connect to internet wirelessly.
ive tried to set up file sharing and works fine with laptop seeing my pc but pc cannot see the lapto for some reason,ive checked workgroup and they are the same,just dont know what to try next?

Did you remember to turn off all firewalls while setting up ? Once they are re-enabled they won't block the new network connections.
