I'm buying an XFX GeForce 8600 GT ad i don't know what the port is for at the top.

It's the small one at the top of the card. If anybody can tell me what it is for i will be very grateful.

Are you referring to the sli bridge connector?

Or perhaps what looks like an s-video connector beside the dvi?

the connection at the to the right of the s-video connector.
