I'm in a little predicament. I am currently building a PC for the first time and in need of a little guidance.

For reference this is my planned specs:
OS: 7 64-bit and/or XP 32-bit
CPU: i5-750
Motherboard: P55 SLI or LE
Graphics: EVGA GeForce GTX260 Core 216
Sound: Creative SB X-Fi Titanium

With that in mind, here's my predicament: Dual or single BIOs. I was thinking about have two OS on this computer because I have a couple of games that are not compatible with a 64-bit system and faster settings. Would it work to have one OS on one BIOs and the other OS on the other BIOs?

  1. The dual BIOS will just help in corrupt BIOS in case of rootkit viruses

    and power surges

the SLI will only be useful if you are getting two vid cards so go with the LE
  2. So, I can still have a 64-bit OS and 32-bit OS on the same system without the second BIOs then?
  3. Correct
  4. yes you just have to setup a dual boot system
  5. Oh, ok. Well then I'll just ask for further assistance when I come to that bridge then and if I need any. I'm sure it's easy as pie, but I never know until I get there...So this since this is my first custom system, should I be concerned with even messing around with the BIOs? Or is that something that should only be hampered with if overclocking? It's just some of these threads are no use for me at all because I have no interest in overclocking, just something that can score much higher than a 2.0 on the W.E.I. I mean I saw another computer that scored like 5.9 and I was amazed.

You should not be concerned with messing around with the BIOS.

That is something that should only be hampered with if you have problems.

This system I am using scores 5.9 on all components except the processor which scores 5.5 (nothing is overclocked)

    Intel E8200
    4GB Corsair Dominator DDR2-8500
    BFG GeForce 9800GTX 512MB OCX
    Seagate 500GB 7200.11
    Vista 64

Seeing as everthing you are looking at is a generation ahead of what I am using, methinks you won't have to worry about scoring less then 5.9
  7. Haha, well thanks you guys. If I should require more assistance I shall refer to this post or create another. :D. Oh, I did in fact go with the LE and I can't wait for it to come in. XD. Thanks again!
