Hard drive no spin up HELP

Hi,

I purchased a firewire expresscard model number SD-EXPC34-2F. I am trying to use it to connect a firwire enclosure with a Seagate 500GB hard drive. The expresscard works, I have tested it with other devices. The hard drive is the samething, I have tested and it too works fine. But when I connect the hard drive to the expresscard it does not spin up. I do not hear it spinning or feel the movements.

Please help.

This card does not supply enough power to run a HDD. If you connect a HDD which has its own power adapter, it will work fine. And, remember to plug in the power adapter first; before you connect the HDD to the firewire (or USB for that matter).
