Hey guys so out all of the areas about computers I am least familiar with harddrives and storage.

Background:

I am adding a second 2TB harddrive to my sister's dell comp which currently has a 500gb hardrive I think.

Question:

The new hardrive is 7200 RPM where the current one is 5400 RPM therfore not only do I want to have them running together, I want to move all the files including the OS (Vista) to the 2TB drive. Then make the 500 gb drive running as the secondary drive. When trasfering the files, do I have the 2TB drive running as the slave drive during that process? Then when all the files have been transfered I can simply make the new drive the master? thanks for any advice.

I using these two articles as pointers

Hi.

You can't select SATA as master or slave, the only way that you can do that is using Acronis True Imaging or Norton Ghost. Basically those softwares "copy" the current configuration of your hard drive with all drivers, info, folder, partition and OS installation to a new drive.

EASEUS software isn't free, unless that you use the trial version.
