i need a new external hard drive as my Sumvision 750GB is playing up on win 7 ???

from the searching i done so far esata seems to be the fastest over usb i could use either but i have a unused esata port

so decision would be how much faster is it and would that speed justify "i expect" the extra cost ?

looking to buy a 2GB external drive possibly 1GB but nothing smaller reliability would be more important than speed i don't really need to back up fast

but while researching the above i came across esata enclosures that can hold more than one hard drive "assuming they would come in usb too?" can u use "although pricey" for storage or are they more a raid thing

anyway any help advise welcome

I have a portable 2.5'' 7200 RPM HDD with PowerESata connector (which is different than simple eSata). I use it with a laptop that has this port (marked as eSata/USB combo). The cable provides power and data at full SATA speed which makes the drive twice as fast as USB2 (100MB/s vs 50 MB/s). I don't know about USB3.
