Well my Ati x1900 is dying. Please give me ideas on a card that would be a good replacement for it. I would like to equal the performance if not better a little but. It is a back up machine. Really only play WOW and some BF2142 on it. I have a AMD 4800 processor in it so I do not want something more than the processor can handle.

I prefer ATI but would really like to hear about what Nvidia cards will work well with this system.

Thank you for your time.

With a 4800X2 at stock clocks you don't need anything more than a 4850 512MB.

ASUS EAH4850/HTDI/512M $99.99

That card is worth the few extra bucks over a 4830. Since it's a backup machine though I wouldn't spend too much on it and probably go with a 4670, which is still faster than your X1900.

SAPPHIRE 100255HDMI Radeon HD 4670 512MB $64.99

Make sure you have a good enough PSU.

Honestly if you can pick up a cheap 3850 that would be a good match for your cpu.
If you want to spend more, 4670, 4830, but would be bottlenecked a bit by your cpu.

As a backup machine, I would get the 4670. Performance is ok, and you won't stress that older PSU. (if you like Nvidia chips, get the 9600GSO. Make sure you get one with DDR3 memory and 96SP though.) If your overclocking the CPU or want every ounce of power you can get because its your main machine, the 4830/4850/4770 is a better choice. (9800GT/9800GTX)
