I'm trying to find a PSU to supply power to

8 SATA HDD
4 IDE HDD
2 IDE DVD/CD drive
1 SATA DVD/CD drive

I was looking at the Antec TP-750 , it says it has 9xsata and 9xmolex connecters, i can't quite figure out if you can use 9 sata and 9 molex or only one or the other. Any ideas?

The red 8 pin modular connector on the psu can be used for any of the modular cables, you can use all 18 connectors, if you don't need 4 pcie connectors .

8 HD takes you fropm 38 to 113 watts here:

http://www.antec.outervision.com/

or a little over 9 watts per HD

Of course PSU wattage will therefore depend more upon the other stuff in the box that this.

And these all gotta fit in something but even an Antec 1200 only covers 12.

Might wanna look at some of these:

http://www.netgear.com/Products/St [...] VPlus.aspx

which have their own PSU's and are hot swappable.

Oh I already have all the drives in a xclio-1000, my motherboard has 6 sata and i have 3 pci expansion cards for a total of 8 sata ports and 5 ide ports. My problem is finding a Power Supply that has enough connections. My coolermaster 500w only has 6 molex and 3 sata connections, plus i need 2 extra molex connections for fans and leds. I put my whole system through the PSU calculator and it says 473w.

You are dealing with two questions, really. One is, does the PSU supply enough power for the system? At 500 W, your current PSU MAY be adequate. The on-line estimator says 473 W needed, and if that's correct then I think you need bigger. But maybe the estimator is already building in a "spare capacity factor".

The number of power connectors is a separate question, easily addressed with simple adapters that convert 1 Molex into 2 Molex or into 2 SATA power connectors. Nothing at all wrong with them, as long as the PSU has the power to provide.

Maybe there's a third question, and on this one I don't know where the answer is - maybe others here do. What about the distribution of these HDD loads on the PSU output rails? I suspect the PSU may be supplying all HDD's (Molex and SATA) from one rail. If so, the answer to your first question is not in the PSU's max rating, but in the amperage rating on the rail used for HDD devices. I expect that won't be a problem because each of those drives is not a heavy load, but it should be checked. And when that is being done, are there any other loads on that same rail that need to be included?
