You need to 1st find your stable setting in your overclock before you start overclocking your ram, at times the ram spped needs dropping for an higher nb/cpu oevrclock or the timings need loosening.

Your jumping in the deep end before learning to swin.

thanks for the replys guys but i tested a few things out and it seems i can set a voltage distance between stuff... so i can set HTT voltage 1.48 auto above whatever i set the cpu at and so on which is nice but i changed the fsb to 215 from 200 and my temps went thru the roof so i reset cmos and ran the test stock and my temp hit 54 solid... lol i do only have one 120mm crap fan and the stock heatsing/fan lol

My setup is

Phenom II 840 3.2Ghz Running 3.8Ghz 1.45V FSB 250 x15.5
Gigabyte GA-MA785gm-US2H
Corsair 1066Mhz 2X2Gig DDR2
Ballistix 1000Mhz 2X1Gig DDR2 All running @1000Mhz 5-5-5-15 2.0v

The HT link and NB freq. Run at a multiplier of the FSB Just turn the multiplier down to keep these within a couple hundred of orig.+/-

Ok thats awesome you see when i raised mine just the slightest bit i started to see huge Temp increases.. what type of cooling do you have going on?

Stock cooling with a thin layer of artic silver 5. My idle temp did go from about 32C to about 44c though. I have ran this at 4.ghz. stable but I'm going get better cooling before I keep there. one important thing is the thermal grease and how its applied.

Try lower your cpu voltage. Most of the time these cpu have really high voltages to ensure their is no chance of problems. Since your testing you cpu you can find its exact stability point. unless your going to high base clock like 250 or more you wont have to change much. You'll only have to deal the the cpu voltage, lower memory, and hyper transport multipliers.

Max for the 840 is 71c max.I don't let mine get over 65c loaded. I found that artic silver 5 works good. Make sure the heatsink and CPU are clean. I use rubbing alcohol to clean them. Less then a pea drop rub it good on the heatsink were it meets the CPU very very thin.then a very thin layer on the CPU itself.(a little thicker then the heatsink) I use a laytex glove or something similar. The purpose is just to fill those tiny holes you can't see with your eyes.I have a fan in the front bottom of the case to bring cool air in and one below the PSU to suck hot air out.I have a hyperthread tube just over the CPU fan to the side of the case which gives cool air to the CPU.

You should be able to that on stock 1.35v volt.

artic silver 5 is over rated and pricey because everyone thinks its the best out their. Try Tuniq tx-2, it has the same conductivity but it doesn't take 200 hour to set and it doesn't hold a charge so you won't potentially fry your cpu or other components. Also it costs about 2/3 the price. You can get it at newegg.com.
