This is probably going to sound really daft to you guys, but I have been trying to read up on this and it is a bit hard to get the basic answer.
I have read about Ethernet Addresses, Cables, Switches and Hubs. But what IS Ethernet itself? Is it all these things? If so what relates them? What makes up the general term "Ethernet"?
Can someone please just say what Ethernet is in very simple terms. Because I have been reading a very round-a-bout description all morning and the lack of a direct description is hindering my understanding of the rest of it.
