Hey there,

I've got a working Sony PCG 6H41 that I'd really like to keep as primarily a movie watching PC. The problem is the fan has stopped working. I can get the laptop up and running for 10-20 minutes, but then it shuts itself off before it overheats.

I've seen the heatsink/fan combo on ebay, but I wouldn't know about how to install it on this particular model. I've done plenty of heatsink swaps on desktop machines, but never on a laptop.

Any guidance would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

its not hard on a laptop. just alot more screws and tighter spaces. get some containers to sort your screws in and start taking it apart. the heatsink will most likely be part of the fan and a heat pipe will be connecting the CPU/NB/GPU and perhaps SB. ive replaced thousands of laptop heatsinks, as long as you take your time, dont force things and watch out for ribbon cables you should be fine.
