I tried replacing my old centrecom 4-port hub with a 8-port linksys EZXS88W switch & it didnt see my Dell laptop, the lights would blink once a second & no connectivity.

I have 3 desktops, a 1 year old homebuilt, a 1 month old homebuilt & a 7 year old Gateway. They all work fine with either the switch or the hub (they also all have built in lan).

The laptop uses an old (circa 2001?) xjack 3com Megahertz 10/100 LAN Cardbus PC Card 3cxfe575bt & I'm guessing the card is too old for the linksys switch to recognize. Does that sound plausible?

It's odd the laptop is the only one of the 4 computers that doesn't work on the lan with the linksys.

By the way I'm going from a dsl modem to a linksys BEFSR41 cable/dsl router to the hub (or switch , when it was connected).

Just curious about the lack of laptop connectivity. I've since put the hub back in service & connected one of the desktops to a router ethernet port thus gaining more ports & everything is working.
