Hi All

I'm trying to pick a new GFX card, I was hoping maybe some of you out there might have the same cards I am looking at and can give me some feed back

Card 1: Asus GeForce GTX 260 896MB GDDR3

Or

Card 2: Gainward GeForce GTX 260 Golden Sample 896MB

After some reading it looks like the Asus preforms at a similar level to the GTX285 ( in some cases)

but any ideas welcome or if you know of any other cards that might be any good.
They must be NVIDIA tho.

thanks

Could you tell us what you are going to be using the card for? Different cards are good for different things so we need to know what it will be used for.

gaming dude. just gaming.

I get solid frame rate and prefprmance with the 8800gts but I have to undercoick it to get it stable. (which XFX say is perfectly working card. Worst support ever.) So to save a lot matching driver to the underclock tool hassle I want a new card. But i also want a half decent one.

The golden samples always have nice features, like faster rated RAM, compared to stock versions of the same card. Anyway if the speed on a 260 sp 216 is high enough it comes pretty close to a stock 285 card in terms of performance. Anyway as for DX11 cards the ATI cards will be out first. As for the nVidia cards no one really seems to know. They are using the same 40nm process from TSMC that ATI is, which has only recently provided acceptable yeilds, so even if nVidia is already making their DX11 cards there's no way to know when they'll have enough of them to launch.

If you are looking to spend that much money (the Golden Sample has to be more expensive than a plain jane 260), why not step up to a 275GTX. It performs very close to the 285GTX in shader limited games. It only falls back once memory bandwidth is a factor like when using high AA and AF settings at high resolutions.

Right ill try to answer all in one, the card are a very close price. £134. i cant sped any more as i'm about to be out of a job soon.I'm not really to bothered about the Dx11. as I herd it would be a drastic difference to Dx10.1
