I'm repurposing some spare parts into a Windows Home Server system. I'll need to pick up a case and PSU though. I'll need a case with good airflow for multiple hard drives and prefer to keep it inexpensive. Was wondering specifically about the Antec 200 or CoolerMaster Elite 335...both around $50. The following is what will be in it for now:
Gigabyte GA-P35-DS3R
CPU: possibly an e6400 (friend has one he's not using); otherwise a Celeron or Pentium dual core, e1500 or e5200 maybe
RAM: 2gb Crucial Ballistix PC6400
Video: old plain PCI card
Optical: None (have an external drive I'll use to install the OS)
Hard drives: I'll be starting with 2 Samsung 1.5tb drives. Will add more later...Gigabyte board has 6 ports I think?
OS: Windows Home Server
So, recs for a case to hold multiple drives easily with good airflow? A good PSU to go with it, but affordable?
The 6 SATA connectors will give you plenty of HDD connections and the 85% efficiency is a server dream. Unfortunately I just noticed they are sold out (gee, can't image why with such a great price). If you don't have time to wait, I'll select another one for you.
Thanks for responding. I'll check out the 300 Illusion.
I'd like to order tomorrow or Tuesday at the latest, so if you have another suggestion, that would be great. Corsairs are great...I have the modular 520HX in my current system.
If you can't now or you try to order but aren't given the special deal, come back here and I'll suggest a 3rd PSU, lol.
Thanks, went for it. The rebate part is good from now til the 15th I think, so got that. I did end up going for the Antec 300 Illusion also. I didn't need blue LED fans, but the fact the fans were included for only $18 more than the regular 300 swayed me.
