Help slow wireless lan

Hello My wirelesslan connection is giving me transfer rates from 15Kbytes/s to 150Kbytes/s this is ridiculous. There are 3 to 5 other wireless networks showing in my area. How canI improve transfer speed? Currently a 3GB folder was estimated at 7.5 hours for transfer!!!

Experiment with results from different wireless channels -- make sure the one you finally select is five stops from any strong neighbouring wifi.

Also play with antenna orientation, try raising router above furniture level, relocate cordless phone base or video sender away from router, computer.

Fihart, thanks for the advice. I have go a spare adsl/router which I am going to substitute first and then I'll look at movibg things around.
