So I am just wondering what is a good monitor for gaming. Is 1920 x 1080 res good? or is it overkill? Would it be more economical to buy a cheaper one with less res. Will games use 1080 res? What GPU setup should i have to make use of the full capacity of 1920 x 1080?

lastly, what is the difference(other than size) in these two monitors, and are they good?

Thanks for the help.

Both are good monitors, but hunter has pointed out the difference between those...

I would suggest you stick with the 1080p resolution and Yes games do look good @ that resolution...but to drive that many pixels, you need high powered graphics...
Cards like the HD 4890 or the GTX 275 are the best bet...

I would suggest you get a lower sized monitor (Not resolution) like this one...and spend $30 on the graphics side...

The 24" has a 2ms response time and has HDMI input.

1920 x 1080 isn't overkill, it is called pleasure. :)

single 4890/gtx 275 will do the job for you. Don't settle for anything less.
