Why wont windows xp 32 bit recognize my usb keyboard or mouse

Hello, I am trying to boot into windows 32 bit to update my iphone. So, I went into bios (phoenixbios) and can't even find the peripheral devices, but, upon booting into 32 my mouse and keyboard dont work and I moved them into every available usb port. Im using windows xp sp 2 and probably have not updated the 32 bit windows in four years. Im new to this but learning fast.

You have caused your own problems by being so far out of date. When you get sorted out, turn on Windows automatic update, and get UPDATED !
SP3 has been out for years !

Try booting into safe mode and select last known good config.
Otherwise you will need your windows CD to run sfc /scannow, or do a repair install by booting from the CD.
