Ok, got it down to 2 set of parts (few parts I'm will be moving over to the new case). It's basically going to be for gaming and would like it to be still good for at least 1 year (futureproof).

Option #1:
Antec Nine Hundred Ultimate Gamer Case
4 GB of RAM (will get more later)
Intel Core I5 750 Processor
Gigabyte GA-P55-UD3R Mother (yes I know about the foxconn fiasco)

Option #2
Antec Nine Hundred Ultimate Gamer Case
4 GB of RAM (again, will get more later)
AMD Phenom II X4 965 Quad Core Black Edition 3.4Ghz
Asus M4A785TD-V EVO motherboard

Will be moving over the following
DVD Burner
Seagate 1TB Hard Drive
Wireless PCI Card
Geforce GTS 250 OC 1GB Video card
Antec NeoPower 550W Power Supply (pray that it will work w/ new motherboard, should though).

I am on a budget (and choosing between these two options, nothing else (I7 too much). I am also buying the 2 year warranty on the parts as well.

Will be buying tonight before I go to work. Again, It will be basically for gaming & would like it to be future proof (for at least one year anyways).

Thanks again guys.

I think you are good --- should be an EPS connector.

The Asus M4A785TD-V EVO / Phenom 965BE is the way to go.

Been a good price drop today at the Egg --- don't know where you are buying from. That Asus mobo and a 955BE is like $280 w/free shipping (the 965BE combo is maybe $20 more) ...

The i5 750 and PII 965 a very close at stock speeds, and if you never plan on overclocking then either one would provide similar performance. But if you were to overclock the i5 to 3.5-4ghz it would beat the 965 pretty substantially.

Not being biased or anything. I'll go for option #1. BUT, instead of getting a
GTS250 OC video card, i highly suggest go the ATi 4770. Its way more faster than
GTS 250 OC (10 percent faster) aslo, the 4770 is cheaper and overclocks good
too.

Its actually not faster, its a bit slower. The GTS 250 is equal to the 4850, which the 4770 is slightly slower than. It would be a large waste of money.

question. How good is the Phenom II X4 945? Thinking of going AM3/AMD because of potention future upgrade paths.

Was originally going Intel, but not sure now because of the foxconn problems and unsure of the i5's socket future.

opinions?

should also mention that i will not be overclocking. Knowing my luck, i'll burn the house down.

For future proofing, I would say the AMD will have a better upgrade path in the future.

For your case, especially since you do not plan to overclock, I would consider the Phenom II 945. Take any money that you save and put it aside for a better graphics card in the future. The 945 will definitly last a year or more in gaming. The video card is your bottleneck, so you will not use all the potential of a more powerful CPU unless you have a better videocard.

I think so too. So i am going w/ AMD either w/ the Phenom II X4 945 minimum (pending what they got).

Thanks for all the suggestions.

Update. The computer shop that I go to doesn't have the processors I wantend. He even suggested that I upgrade the video card after telling him what I got right now. So it is plan b and getting a new video card. Probably go with ati or at least the geforce 260.
