Well got my new Sapphire HD 4890 vapor-x yesterday and very happy with it.

Started playing with ATI overdrive and ran the auto setup tool which overclocked me from 870Mhz to 965Mhz.

I'm a newb at overclocking and just wanted to ask if leaving it at that frequency is likely to have an serious impact on the length of the cards life and what is a safe temp when gaming?

Although - this card does seem to be setup to do some serious overclocking!

While overclocking keep an eye on the temps.
If the temps are good enough then the overclocked card will last as much as you want.

It should not idle above 60c and should not go above 90c while gaming .

Many thanks! Seems a bit obvious but are there any apps which allow you to monitor temp while gaming or do you just have to close game then quickly look at temp gauge!

Atitool is also one good software to overclock .

The best thing about it is that it is very very easy to use.

Best of luck fr your overclock.

If any other problem with temps or other then post.
