i hope i dont have to change my psu after i buy this card , and the system does not get overheated, although i will check the pros and cons of it on the net, just thought from a user's point of view. any geforce cards that u can suggest. Thanks a lot for the advice and help.

You can run that from a 500w easy...lower than that will depend on the quality of your PSU...try it before you buy another. If you have random crashes when the card gets a load you'll know the problem. It vents heat out the back, so as long as you have a decent airflow in your case you are good. The closest thing to that card in performance from nvidia is the gtx260, and they start at around $160

The card 4870 is ideal in that price range.

Regarding the PSU:
A 400w can run it but a 500w cannot!

I mean a quality 400w PSU can run it but an el cheapo 500w cannot.

Mention your PSU.

You mean Intel Core 2 Quad Q8400. Could you be more spefic. And your PSU spefications. Then I can recommend a decent graphics card. No offense man I just like precise information given ;) .

It comes down to the PSU, the 4850 makes the most sense, but the 4670 is the best if the PSU becomes a problem...

Best card in that range would likely be this one:

HIS H487QT1GP Radeon HD 4870 1GB
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Prod [...] 6612d0f9a1

It's 154.99 after mail in rebate of $10.

If you use Bing.com cash back, newegg is currently offering 3% cash back so the math makes it work out to...

$164.99 starting prices
-$4.95 bing cash back
-$10 mail in rebate
=================
$150.04
