New internal hard drive installation

Thank you..I have a new caviar black 500 hd to install in my T-180/Acer to replace an unrecoverable/unreadable hd.. the unit case has a valid/legit coa for vista home basic 64-bit...would a reinstallation disk and the case coa do, or should I purchase an oem kit, etc.. also, partitioning necessary??

It's fine to use your Vista key as it's a licence for a single PC not for a hard drive. Go ahead and reinstall vista using your installation disc.
Personally I don't bother with multiple partitions on a single disk. I just have a single partition the size of the drive. The Vista installation will walk you through the configuration. I believe by default it uses the entire drive size.
