Im looking for a new GPU to play games on my current syncmaster 940BW monitor. Im upgrading my current system on the cheap and will be running a Phenom X3 720 on probably an Asus M4A78-Vm Mobo with 2Gb of DDR2 Patriot Ram. Iv been looking at the HD4670 512Mb card for about £55 but its hard to decide which manufacture to go for with some many boards out there. What do you guys think?
£55 (about $90US) is about the price of a 4830 on Newegg. That may not be an option for you, but similar deals might be found?? Not sure about your mobo, but if you have 2 PCI-Express slots for video, there are several 4650s out there at half the price you're looking at. Could you get 2 and put in crossfire (saw a review online somewhere that showed them being faster together than a single 4830 or possible 4850...don't remember).
the HD 4670 runs games pretty well at 12x10 (14x9) resolution, if you're higher than that you might want to see if you can spring for a little better card. If you do manage to find a little more cash, the HD 4850 blows it out of the water.
If you do get a 4650, make totally sure it's a DDR3 version (not DDR2), the DDR2 versions are MUCH slower.

Im currently running at 1280 x 768 but my monitor will go to 1400 x 900. The 4670 only comes in DDR3 so no worries there. The 4850 could be a bit of overkill dont you think as im only using a 19" monitor!!

4650 are going for £40 and the 4850 for £85 so i thought the 4670 was a good choice. Im only using a 19" monitor with a max res of 1400 x 900!!
Depending on the games you play, the HD4670 will probably do very nicely. It also does not require additional power, which may not be available if your PSU is weak.
