I now have my sapphire ati 5870, and have been running it on many games for about a month. I have a Phenom II x4 920 (stock 2.8ghz) overclocked to 3.33ghz. I was wondering if this woud bottleneck my 5870? And can someone explain how to tell if my CPU is bottlenecking? I never knew what to look for, like as in signs of bottlenecking.
Just depends on the game, but overall I'd say the CPU was a weak spot. Do this, bench a game a few times to get a median score, then overclock your CPU a bit more and bench the same game again. If your avg FPS go up, then that game is limited by your CPU at those settings.
