Hello. I have a i5 2500k and a corsair h60.

It all started when i reboted my pc to try the "optimal" setting in the bios. (Asus p8p67) Then when i saved the changes my computer booted then shut it self down and booted again (Strange) And when i was in windows i noticed that the pc was alil bit faster so i went into the bios and saw that the multiplier was at 42! And that the memory 1600mhz ( a little more, i dont remeber :p) So i ran prime 95 and saw that the temps were at 60 -69 (Highest i've gotten after ariound 15 min with prime 95) Is this safe? In core temp it says VID: 1.3361V (is that vcore?) I hope this is stable cuz sometimes i have to run my pc at 100% over night (Rendering movies, animations)

My specs:
Asus P8p67
i5 2500k
ATI 6870
Corsair h60
1600mhz gddr3 4 gb (was at 1333mhz before this.)

Optimal setting enables Turbo Boost I believe. Turbo Boost will kick in if thermal conditions are acceptable enough for the cpu. I would look at my settings but im at work sry.

BIOS...if you make a substantial change and hit F10 it will save to cmos and shut down. It will start itself back up and complete the ECSD update. Its perfectly normal.

It puts it to the highest turbo on all cores which should only be 3.7 not 4.2. I'm not 100% sure but that's what I read. 1.3361 is your vcore and that is high for only 4.2 but is to be expected of auto OC features. I'd suggest manually OC, that's the reason to get a k version anyways. 1.35v should get you around 4.5 if not higher. You'll have to run prime95 for at least 8 hours to test stabilty, you can't just ask if it is. Intel rates the tcase at 72.6C but prime95 gets hotter than normal operation so a little higher isn't much to worry about.

Thanks for the answer. But can anyone explain why my computer boots twice when i start it? It did not do that before :S

It attempts to accept the overclocked speeds when you first turn it on, but when it cant because its just too high (not stable) it will shut down then reset the bios and start back up with lowered clock speeds/voltage. As k1114 said, you NEED to oc manually. Once you can successfully step up on the oc then you can get a handle on the restarts. Run Prime95 to test the stability once you think you have it where its not dual restarting on you anymore.

OK thanks for answer :) I've decided that i want to oc my cpu to 4ghz. Do i only have to adjust the mutiplier to 40x and leave the rest on auto? Do i have to mess with voltages and stuff? I have h60 and i think it can hande the temps quite well at defualt voltage.
