I would really like a notebook pc with a swivel monitor so that it can be laid flat screen side up on the keyboard. The pre-built ones are much more expensive just because they have that screen.

Would it be possible to build one and spend less money? I don't even know if the case and screen can be bought alone.

as far as i know there arent any tablet style computers like that. im not sure if there is even any way to build a custom notebook. however i have seen like bare bone systems where you add your own ram and stuff that are generally really cheap. for example this netbook system on newegg.

i think your best choice if you want a tablet would be just to buy from hp.

I was just wondering if building one of these was possible. I will probably just find a way to afford the one at new egg. I think it would be wonderful to have a laptop that you can fold the touchscreen down onto keyboard for reading ebooks :)

even if there was a way it would cost more than that HP notebook to build it because your buying almost all the parts separately.

its always been the case with notebooks that its cheaper to buy one than to build one

Thanks for the replies. I found a better deal at best buy on an hp touch, better specs then the new egg model. They also did no interest for 18 months.
