Hi Guys,
I'm looking to upgrade my Core 2 machine to i7. The parts I need is a new motherboard, CPU and memory, my aim is to oveclock to 4Ghz.

Old parts:

Geforce 8800GTS 640

FSP Bluestorm II 500W (if I remember correctly..I know it might too weak but I thought I'd give it a try)

New Parts:

CPU: i7 920 DO

Memory
I thought I'd go for 1333Mhz CL7...instead of 1600Mhz...If i Understand it correctly...it won't limit my overclocking..I just need to have a lower ratio on the mem..

12Gb of OZC Platinum 1333Mhz CL7 http://www.ocztechnology.com/products/memory/ocz_ddr3_pc3_10666_platinum_low_voltage_triple_channel

Are there any problems using 12Gb on 6 sticks and overclocking?

Motherboard: Gigabyte EX58-UD5 or EX58-UD4P/EX58-UD4

My other alternative is go really budget and get the EX58-UD3R and the cheapest 6Gb of memory I can find...

Any advice that could help is much appreaciated, thanks!

Stefan

You really need to upgrade your PSU. I have an older 8800 GTX and it is a power hog. core i7's have a 130 watt TDW to run at stock, and seeing as you want a hefty overclock, your PSU will hold you back if it can even handle your proposed upgrade at stock speeds. As for the memory question, 12GB or 6GB shouldn't make a difference, though you might want to check a compatibility list from Gigabyte just to make absolutely sure. sometimes they'll have stipulations where certain specs are only attainable with more specific hardware vendors.
