i installed the 4870 x2 and i updated the drivers. screen is black on start up and the card overheats and shuts off my machine. i have vista 32. i have to unistall the drivers in safe mode to get the pc on. is it me?

try installing other version of drivers. what version of catalyst you used when this happen?

How do you know the graphics card is overheating and shutting off your computer?

New build? Old computer?

Previous graphics card?

Power supply make and model?
