I have WinXP Pro w/ a AHA-39320A-R SCSI Host Adapter n' 147GB(2) SCSI HD set in RAID-1.

Recently, I had to reorganize the drives, necessitating my having to rebuild my RAID. I had to re-install XP Pro so I had to download the proper drivers from Adaptec for XP Pro to recognize the Host Adapter.

The problem is, while the SCSI BIOS sees' the drives, when I load the driver for the Host Adapter, XP Pro will see the Host Adapter, but not the hard drives.

I am scratching my head, to figure out what small detail I am missing.

Are the SCSI termination settings all correct - master and slave drives at the appropriate parts of the cable, termination settings on the host adapter correct, etc. Worthwhile checking these things before going further

They are correctly set.

How do you have the HDD's set inside the adapter? Are you doing JBOD, RAID0 / 1 or just have a blank RAID configuration. From my experience the Adaptec adapters with a RAID BIOS will only present configured drives. If your drives are unconfigured then the adapter will show 0 drives to the OS.

The HDD's are set in a RAID-1 configuration. I have had it this way before. That is why, I am wondering what small detail I am missing.

The drives are properly terminated
The SCSI ID settings are correct.
The SCSI drive cable is fine.

I am thinking it is a software issue related to drivers. But I can't think of what I could possibly be missing?

That is exactly what I have been thinking.

This might seem like a daft question, but have you got the drivers for the HostRAID version of the card, and not the SCSI version? The latest drivers from the Adaptec site appear to be 2005, although the SCSI version is more recent (2007), but doesn't support the RAID feature...

I went back to their website n' deleted, the drivers' I had saved to floppy disk the first time, and downloaded the HostRaid drivers. The most recent HostRAID drivers for my Host Adapter(39320A-R) are from 2007 so, I had download the drivers dated Oct. 2004. I have always been able to use those the best.
