hi there... i realize that i'm almost certainly posting in the wrong forum, but i knew someone here would be able to point me to the right one.

i'm trying to put together a home media server (i think).

i want to store all my movies, music, etc... in one place and be able to access it from my home computer, laptops, tv, and have a small(ish) stereo in another room that can also access it.

i have almost no idea what sort of hardware i'll need to be able to do this. ideally, i'd like it all the media to reside on my current home computer that i've recently built and have all the rest easily access it.

can anyone recommend a good article or even tell me what i'll need to do this?

thanks. and again sorry for posting in the wrong forum.

Well, you can consider a home network. Try to get parts oriented towards a low-cost storage computer, which is basically a basic computer with lots of hard disks.

Alternatively, you may also want to get a Network Access Storage device (NAS). You only need to worry about which hard disks to get for it. May I suggest a 1TB WD Caviar Black?
