Is this PC good enough?

Can this PC games like Fallout 3 or Borderlands on medium, maybe a little on high?

Yes it is sufficient enough to run those games on high even.......
Do you have the latest drivers and at least DX10? Those games will look great and the FPS will be sufficient as they are not resource munchers......... however if you are planning on playing games like Crysis, GTA 4, FC2, Resident Evil5 or FSX that card will start to stutter at higher resolutions and high settings.....

I'm planning on updating my graphics card only actually.
But I'm not really a hardcore PC gamer, so I won't mind playing on Medium, as long as it won't lag.

EDIT: Forgot to ask, but are my motherboard and CPU bottlenecking the graphics card?

I have played through Fallout 3 on a:

Pentium D @ 3.4GHz
2GB RAM
ATI 3870

I was able to play it at 1280x1024 @ High without Aniso or AA and I'd usually get 40~60fps.

Don't know about Borderlands though.

It will run, you need to stay away from AA and ASF.

Should get about 25-30fps. It wont lag but u will get slow down in busy areas.

Sorry don't have a wide screen so I really couldn't test. On your setup it should run fine as the 9800GT is a bit faster than the 3870.
