Upgrades ($300)

Hello, I'm looking to upgrade my system. Basically just looking for some help on what to choose, but I think I got it narrowed down.

Mobo - http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813128392

Processor - http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16819103649

Ram - http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820231189

(about ram, you need vista to run over 3gb right? If so I can upgrade my OS, comp came with vista home premium upgrade :P)

What I have in my system currently is...

AMD 64 Socket 939 3700+
3gb ddr 400 ram
some asus mobo that came with it (compaq)
500w ps
8800gts 512 oc

I don't think that I have to upgrade anything but mobo proc ram, because all I want is a boost in performance for the 3 games that I do play, (was thinking of possibly upgrading the graphics card at a later time after I get the 3 pieces) which run fine, but I want them to run smooth and lag free. (at max settings, which is what they're at now, but I get low frames.)

Thank you for your help :)

  1. Good choice though i'd try hitting a pair of CL7 DDR3 1333 ^^
  2. but what screen you using
  3. Oh yeah sorry, forgot the display... 22" widescreen, 1680x1050.

Like I said the games run fine, but I would much rather have them run smoothly. Just about every game that I've looked at "CanYouRunIt" it just says that my processor is the only bad thing. I'm 95% positive that it's my processor, single core :(.

I thought about just buying a socket 939 x2 off craigslist/ebay but I figure in the long run getting more up to date hardware would be better.

By the way that combo looks good too :) Saves me $9.
  4. So what do you guys think about this?
