I built my current gaming PC about 3.5 years ago and am looking to upgrade as little as possible, but enough to handle some upcoming PC games.

I'm thinking that I need to upgrade my video card:
-Radeon X800

And I need more ram (currently only have 1 gig). My question is: Will I need to upgrade my cpu?

Current cpu is:
-Pentium 4 3.2GHz (2 cpus)

And if I need to upgrade my cpu would I need a new motherboard?

Current motherboard is:
-ASUS P5WD2 Premium

Thanks in advance for all the help!

Whats your budget for upgrade? Is your pentium 4 a socket 775 processor? If so you can upgrade that really easy. Whats your monitor resolution and what power supply do you have(make, model, and wattage, if you cant get the make and model then available current on the 12 volt rail)?

Not sure if the pentium 4 is a socket 775 or not. I do know that the motherboard says: Intel LGA 775 CPU, so I guess that means it is a 775 socket. Monitor resolution is 1280x1024. Not sure on power supply, was planning on getting a new one anyways.

Budget is around $400 for everything. A main concern is whether or not my motherboard would be compatible with a Core 2 Duo processor?

you may want to get a new motherboard, yours only supports celerons, pentium 4's and pentium D's

if you have to replace the motherboard, cpu, ram you should go AMD with socket AM3 since you have a small budget
