I did a system recovery, but my computer is acting like all my pictures are still on there. I assumed they would be wiped off. I cannot find where they are and this is a problem because I am running low on disk space! Help!!

System recovery can mean several things. How did you do the recovery ?

I advise against deleting anything until you can find things, like the pictures you mention, as the File allocation Table may me askew (FAT ).

Run a chkdsk /r on your harddrive. - Also search for some file names or folders and see where the search says they are located. Use explorer, expand your harddrive and look in my documents My pictures etc.

First of all, the infection probably moved the files to another location on the hard disk and hid them, instead of what you believe (wiped them).

Several things you can try to see if files are still available.

1 - In folder options in control panel, view, show hidden files. Then
search your hard drive for folder name or file name you know is missing.

2 - Download from bleepingcomputer.com, their utility UNHIDE and run it.
Use explorer to see if you can find missing files.

3 - Download utility RECUVA (pronounced recover) and recover
deleted files.
