PCI-E PCI-E 2?

Yes a PCI-E 2.0 card will work fine in a PCI-E slot.
The differences is that PCI-E 2.0 is 32x where as PCI-E 1.0 is 16x/8x but since no card right now use the whole 32x and that's the reason the difference isn't very much in games.

The major technical improvement from PCI 1.0 to 2.0 is a doubling of speed - but only if both the mb and add-in card support the 2.0 /2.1 spec.



Now we have PCI 3.0 coming soon which doubles the throughput from 2.0. Again you will need a new mb and add-in card to take advantage of the throughput.
