I recently moved to another town and I'm trying to redo the Tivo and I
keep getting this message when I try and set it up through a router
(wired)using broadband. I did it this way once and had no probs. What
gives? I see the Tivo listed under the Dynamic DHCP Client List. Any
help would be appreciated. Thanks.

If you get the message no DHCP server found or can not connect to gateway
router, I can tell you 99.9% sure you have a cabling issue. Never call
HUMAX, they are worthless! It may not be a bad cable, just the distance.
I spent hours trying to resolve this. Here is how you fix it fast. Go to
Ebay or somewhere and get a 4 or more port 10-T, (NOT A 10/100), just a
10 base HUB. Plug your cable from your router into it. Then plug your TIVO
DVR2 into the hub. This accomplishes two things, First it gives you power
at both ends of your network cable. Second it puts the throughput on the
CAT5 cable to 10 milibits This will play much better and will work just
fine. Also, while you are logged into your router, make sure the WAN port
is set for 10mb. This is the best setting for broadband. Get your DNS
numbers while you are there too! Finally, I would STRONGLY suggest you NOT
use the default or auto settings for TCP. I would set them under the range
of your router. I.E. 192.168.0.20 for example and then use your other std.
Settings as well. I.E. 255.255.255.0 and 192.168.01. For gateway and then
what ever you DNS is for your provider. Hope this saves you hours of
time.
