Just had a power cut due to forgetting to credit the meter and now my main computer is dead. A quick check with a multimeter proves the problem is a failed psu.

The PSU is an FSP250-60GEN. I notice that on ebay there are many FSP250-60 psu's but the last 3 characters of the part number, in my case GEN, are different. What do the last 3 characters denote? The orignal power supply costs around 40 quid used. Can I get a cheaper alernative?

You don't want another cheap PSU or you'll end up with with another fried PSU and possibly other system components with it.

I don't know too many international or UK based online sites so my PSU choices were very limited so I'll give you some basics to look for so that you may have better luck with a PSU than the one I listed above. 400 watts, 25 amps on the 12v rail(s), 80% or better efficiency rating. And preferably one of the following brands: Corsair, Seasonic or PC Power & Cooling.
