Windows cannot find cd/rw error code 41

Hello,
Can anybody help please?
Windows XP cannot find CD/RW.Device manager shows yellow coloured explanation marks on this device.I have uninstalled drivers then reinstalled drivers but still nothing!I have changed the connection cable inside the PC for the CD and CD/RW but still nothing!Any advice please.

Have a look on google for "upper/ lower filters" problems with CD/DVD drives.
THere is a quick solution that worked for me. YOu have to mess around with the windows registry though. So there is potential for something to go wrong. But as mentioned it worked for me. DVD drvie is working perfectly again.
You may have to re-install any programs that use the drive after you have made the change.
