Hey guys, I want to overclock my CPU so I don't have any lag on the latest games (BF3 and skyrim and every other major game). I have no current cooling system except just the fans on my case, about 6 of them. I have no idea what to do so if someone could point me in the right direction I would greatly appreciate it. here are my specs:

Motherboard: ASUS M4A78T-E AM3 AMD 790GX HDMI ATX AMD Motherboard

CPU: AMD Phenom II X4 945 Deneb 3.0GHz Socket AM3 125W Quad-Core Processor HDX945FBGIBOX

PSU: OCZ ModXStream Pro 600W Modular High Performance Power Supply compatible with Intel Sandybridge Core i3 i5 i7 and AMD Phenom

RAM: Corsair XMS3 DHX 4GB (2 x 2GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1600 (PC3 12800) Dual Channel Kit Desktop Memory Model TW3X4G1600C9DHX

Graphics: I am going to buy a gtx 570

what graphics card do you currently have?

having the X4 3.0ghz isnt going to bottlekneck a 570.
have you read the overclocking guides?

its not a case of someone just saying "oh yeah just put these settings in and away u go"

every CPU is different.
keep slowly raising the FSB until it starts crashing / not booting.
then slowly raise the voltage until its stable (1.5v gets VERY HIGH)
run it for a while while monitoring your temps

repeat process is everything is good.

hmm that sounds really advanced, maybe i shouldnt do it. i put together my pc, so if i could figure that out maybe i could figure out overclocking, but if the 3.0 isnt going to hinder me then its not worth the trouble. I actually got a 2gb radeon hd 6970. I guess it won't get bottle necked right?
