Hello,

I just put together my computer and found that when using the VIA onboard audio, I only get sound from the center and rear speakers. I have a 5.1 setup. However, when I change to a 7.1 setup, then I can get sound from the front speaker since they're seen as surround left and surround right speakers.

Here's my setup:

i7 860
Asus P7P55D-E Pro
HIS Radeon HD 5850
Crucial 4GB DDR3 1333

Since I get sound in 7.1 do you think it's mainly just a driver issue or did I get a bad board? I've installed the latest chipset and audio drivers and just did a fresh install of windows 7 pro x64.

Thanks!

Well, I wouldn't assume a bad board just yet. Have you checked the settings on whatever audio hardware management software came with your mobo? Or through the one on control panel?
