CPU FAN GOING CRAZY AFTER PSU CHANGE

Hello,

I have bought a new Crossair 650W PSU today and changed the system, as well as I update my graphic to ati 5870.
The problem is, that since the update my CPU fan is going crazy.

I started Arma 2, the CPU started to go from bottom to very top and it has been 30mins it is still on 100% (4300RPM)

Actually I bought a new CPU as well, Q9400 on my MSI G31 M motherboard, but with this CPU the CPU FAN went 100% all the time and in the device manager it was an uknown device. Also when I turned off the PC from windows, the CPU fan was still working even if the PC was shut down.
So I had to turn it off with the power off button. I figured my shitty MOBO is not compactible with the CPU :(

So I installed the previous q9300 CPU - with that the system starts loud but near the time when I am loggin its idle and qiet. At least it was until I have started the Arma 2 game.

Is there any chance to connect the wrong PSU cables to Mobo? I did the installation the way of pluging out the old PSU cables and connecting the new ones from the new PSU. So I am not sure. The CPU fan is the same as was, CPU as well, the graphic card has got its new PSU.............

Please help :-(

games should make the fan faster, unless there's a manual fan controller

that is OK, but to 4400 RPM ? Its a fricken airport in my room

Did you plug the CPU fan power pin into a system fan header? I supposed not then.

Q9400 should be compatible - http://www.cpu-upgrade.com/mb-MSI/G31M_(MS-7379).html perhaps you should update your bios so that it'll recognize the CPU.

Temperature 1 53°C (127°F) [0x6A] (CPUTIN) -? 53°C is quite high IMO.. probably causing your CPU fans to ramp up. Did you seat the CPU cooler properly? you should put in some extra fans in your PC case as overall temps are quite high for your PC.

I know it should, but its just not :-) The CPU fan is connected to the fan head, not the system one...it is running always crazy when 3D app starts. The fan is installed correctly (but maybe no paste there) ...the Bios is the latest version, I guess I just have a shitty Mobo :-/
