I'd just fork over the extra cash for the PII 940. More performance and a bit more future proof.

What are you looking to use the PC for specifically?

Phenom II X3 720 would beat the Athlon II X4 630 in most games due to the L3 cache, however the Athlon II X4 630 will beat the Phenom II X3 720 in rendering/encoding. It's hard to recommend a processor without knowing what your intended use will be.

I don't think you will see a MASSIVE increase in performance from any of those chips over the 545. It already has the L3 cache that the 720 has, and higher clock speeds than the AII 630. The 940 is your only logical choice, as the price premium will made up by the fact that the other options won't give you as noticable of a boost. Also, having both the L3 cache and the extra cores over the other options will "futureproof" your performance longer.

if you have the balls and the luck, get the 720 and unlock the forth core, who knows, you might endup with a x4.
remember that you need a mb that can do that.
