4GB DDR2 memory or just 2GB DDR3?

Last response: in Memory

So i'm upgrading my cpu to a Phenom II 955, which is AM3

And since my current motherboard only is AM2 i need to buy a AM3 compatible mobo, which also means that i got to buy new ddr3 ram.

Atm i don't have money for 4gb ddr3 ram since i'm buying the HD5850 1gb and i want to play new games at max, particulary Bad Company 2

Sell the 4Gb DDR2 and get 4Gb DDR3.
Otherwise use 2GB for now and upgrade later when you have money.

DDR2 Perform nearly same as DDR3.

Jump for DDR3. even though for 2GB. You can upgrade to 4gb in future.

Acquaintances pay more than what you get from ebay.
So find someone!!

I just sold my 5 years old Geforce 6200 Turbocache PCIe for 20$!! :)
(It was 50$ when I bought)

Where do you buy your parts?

Right here, prices of DDR2 and DDR3 are virtually the same. DDR3 is just a tad cheaper than DDR2.

lols, here in Denmark, 4gb ddr3 ram costs 1500DK or 300USD

And the ATI 5850 costs 550USD

not a good place to live when buying hardware i guess

I would recommend Getting DDR3, You wont notice much difference while gaming, but once u get 4g you will. And to buy it i recommend It has most of the good offers of main shopping sites. Hope this helps.
