Hello,
I have just installed Acronis True Image and a 256GB external hard drive, to back up my PC. However a message came up during an operation 'Windows was unable to save all the data for K:\$Mft, the data has been lost'. The operation stopped at 58% complete and had already taken several hours. Something is wrong here but what?
Thanks in anticipation
Mike

The $MFT is the Master File Table metafile for an NTFS file system. It keeps a record of all the files in the volume.

It's possible you have an unreadable sector - run a utility such as DiskCheckup which can report the drives' SMART data and look to see if the drive has any "pending" sectors.
