A TFT screen is ONE type of LCD screen. Your question is like asing if
a Chevrolet is better than a car.

I see the mistake. In some specs it is called a TFT screen and sometimes it
is called a LCD screen but it seems to be the same.

There are other types of LCD screens in addition to TFT. For example, my
ThinkPad A30p has an "in-plane switching" display, which IBM calls FlexView.
It's still an LCD, but it is a big improvement over a conventional TFT
because it remains readable at nearly any viewing angle. Other manufacturers
have similar displays on some of their high-end models.

There also used to be LCDs that were worse than TFTs: passive matrix and
HPA. I don't think there are any new notebooks that use those, but you will
see them on used machines.

I thought when you're on the plane, the last thing you want is a wide
viewing angle, so the name is a bit of a puzzle :-)

Some of us don't use our notebooks on planes, but at the office where we
want to show something on the screen to other people. FlexView is great for
that, because someone standing can see it as well as someone sitting.

Even a conventional TFT has a fairly wide horizontal viewing angle; it's the
vertical viewing angle that is more limited. So it won't help you much on
the plane--you need a screen filter if you want to cut down the horizontal
viewing angle.

Woooooosh.

Is there really one person in every multitude who feels he has to prove
he has no sense of humour? Or is this an attempt to be funny by taking
a joke as though it were serious?

In-plane. In plane.

Why, thank you! I'm glad you found that amusing.

You are right, there are two possibilities here. One is that I got the joke
and played along with the gag. In that case, my sense of humor is alive and
well.

The other possibility is that my conscious mind missed the joke entirely,
but I was able to entertain you anyway. That would show that my sense of
humor is so finely developed that it operates at a subconscious level.

I won't spoil the fun by telling you which is really the case. Either way,
thanks for the compliment!
