Dell dimension 4600 memory problems

Hello, I just upgraded from 2.5 Gig RAM to 4 Gig on my Dell Dimemsion 4600. The BIOS says the Ram is there (4096) but the OS under properties says there is only 3.25 Gig. Anybody ever have this problem? According to Dell the unit is capable of up to 4 Gig using 1 Gig Dimm's.

The 3.25 Gb limit is a Windows issue, not a hardware issue.

Thanks for your post, I found the same info at another site and ended up parting out the Dell 4600 and building an i7 920 based system running Win 7 / 64 bit.
